“Identifying and Managing Secondary Traumatic Stress in our Schools”

Workshop Description: This workshop will provide an understanding of what secondary traumatic stress (STS) is, how it impacts educators professionally and personally, and what systems and individuals can do to manage and learn from STS. Participants will learn to identify the phenomena of STS and how it differs from burnout, how to recognize the symptoms of STS and how it compromises the quality of education, how to delineate the importance of school culture in exacerbating or minimizing the effects of secondary trauma and how to identify the primary components of managing STS and building positive resiliency.
