Developing Inclusive Leaders

What is this professional learning about?

The "Developing Inclusive Leaders" program is a comprehensive training program aimed at building-level principals and administrators. It focuses on enhancing leadership skills in special education, equipping school leaders with the knowledge and strategies to create equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive environments for ALL students. The training covers key areas such as special education law, inclusive practices, and collaboration with educators, families, and communities​​.

Who is this professional learning for?

This professional learning is designed for building-level leaders, including Principals, Assistant Principals, and Deans, who wish to strengthen their capacity to support ALL students and are beyond their first year. Building-level leaders will also learn how to support staff working with students with disabilities, including special education teachers, ancillary staff and paraeducators​​.

Why get involved?  

By participating in this initiative, building-level leaders will gain critical skills and knowledge to lead inclusive schools, ensuring that students with IEPs receive the support they need to succeed. You will also develop the ability to navigate special education policies, create collaborative partnerships, and foster a school culture that values equity and inclusivity​​.

When does it happen? 

The training series begins January 2025 and occurs over a two-year period. Year one will include on demand monthly learning modules (2-3 hours each) with 3 in person sessions. Year two will include three more in person sessions, for a total of six, and coaching support throughout the program. OFFICIAL DATES

Participants can expect to spend approximately 6-10 hours a month in the work.

Individual monthly coaching provided by MASSP or MEMSPA is provided.  These are approximately 45-60 minute sessions to support the new learning as it applies to the context of the leader’s building.

Where does it happen?

The professional learning will be available in a hybrid format, offering virtual learning modules, regional in-person workshops, and synchronous virtual coaching meetings. Materials will be accessible through the Edupaths learning management platform.

Program Cost

The first cohort is FREE.  Future cohorts will cost $5,500 for the two year program.
